Leicestershire Police is currently seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join the distinguished Office of the Police and Crimes Commissioner on a permanent basis. Working in a team with strong team ethic and great working culture.
As Assistant Accountant you will be supporting the Chief Finance Officer in the provision of pro-active development and guidance in the financial management of the OPCC budgets. Making this role your own, you will be producing and monitoring monthly budget reports, giving advice over a wide range of subjects with a clear focus on achieving the best value and the best us of resources for the force.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the development of the OPCC budget and provide monthly budget monitoring to the Chief Finance Officer as well as advice as appropriate on the robustness of the PCC and Force budget.
- Provision of professional support and advice to PCC over a wide range of subjects including complex financial issues, with a clear focus on obtaining best value, and best use of resources for the force.
- Review and monitor OPCC expenditure on supplies and services and produce recommendations for improved efficiencies where appropriate enabling the effective financial management of the OPCC Budget.
- Reviewing and monitoring expenditure on payroll including reconciliation of the establishment against payroll
The must haves
- To be educated to "A" level standard and to hold GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths or be able to demonstrate ability to the above level by work experience of one year or more using the subjects to the above standard.
- To be qualified to AAT level 4 or be willing to study for this qualification within 2 years of appointment to post.
- Experience of working within a complex financial environment; with some specific knowledge and experience of fulfilling a budget management role.
- To have experience of gathering, researching and analysing trends and key performance indicators using best practise methodology, and presenting recommendations to management on finance in well-structured reports.
- Well-developed analytical skills, and the ability to pro-actively respond to complex financial issues as they arise.
