Commissioner's funding for new ideas in keeping safe

Requests for a share of a new £50,000 Innovation Funding pot to back new crime reduction ideas and innovative projects in Leicestershire are now being invited by Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Clive Loader.

The Commissioner is keen to encourage organisations and individuals to come forward with suggestions that will support the achievement of his Police and Crime Plan’s strategic priorities.

His Innovation Fund is available for successful submissions for the remainder of 2013/14. Further funding will be offered in subsequent years up to March 2017.

“I am very interested in hearing about new ways of thinking and different approaches, and how these might bring about a greater impact on my commissioning intentions and their outcomes,” Sir Clive said. “My intentions are to maximise the success of any crime intervention work I commission and ensure crucial resources are not wasted.”

Any one person or organisation can submit an approach or a project, although it does not necessarily have to be delivered by them.  Ideas will be discussed by a range of people and stakeholders.  If a suggestion is considered to have potential, a full proposal will be developed for procurement.

There is no formal application process and no specific deadline.  Ideas and suggestions should be submitted in no more than 200 words. Details of costs do not have to be supplied but they would be useful.  Submissions should be on the relevant form available on the Commissioner’s website http://www.leics.pcc.police.uk/Planning-and-Money/Tenders-and-Funding/Innovation-Fund.aspx.
