PCC says no decision taken on outsourcing

There has been a great deal of reporting in the media today regarding outsourcing roles within Leicestershire Police.

This has been prompted by media reports fuelled by private security companies’ roles with other UK police forces.

The Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable are clear: No decision has been taken to outsource Leicestershire Police's back or middle office functions.

However, it is important to include this option, alongside others that we are considering, in order to secure efficiency savings and sustain service delivery into the future for the benefit of the local communities we serve.

Police and Crime Commissioner, Sir Clive Loader, said: “There’s no doubt we’re working in a difficult financial climate and we potentially face more challenges with this week’s spending review.

"We are working hard through all the options to try and deliver and maintain our policing commitments to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It is premature to talk about outsourcing at this stage and is unnecessarily worrying for our staff and officers.”
