More than 50 people stopped and spoke to Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Clive Loader and Chief Constable Simon Cole as part of the ‘What matters to you?’ roadshow.

The PCC and Chief Constable spent three hours at the Beaumont Shopping Centre in Beaumont Leys, Leicester, engaging with members of the public and finding out what matters to them.

Over the three hours, a number of people took the opportunity to raise concerns, praise the Force and ask questions about policing in their area. The majority of the discussions had between Sir Clive, Simon Cole and members of the public were positive and many simply enjoyed the opportunity to stop and chat and meet them both. Others took the opportunity to raise concerns they had with parking and anti-social behaviour in their community.

Sir Clive Loader said: “I thoroughly enjoy these events as it gives me the opportunity to get out and about and engage with the public. I want to hear people’s views on policing, community issues and if there’s anything we can be doing more of to make them feel safe.

“We’ve met some great people today and I look forward to meeting many more as we continue this roadshow across the city and counties.”

Chief Constable Simon Cole said: “I think events like this are great, as we can go to busy locations that are used by the public and chat to them informally. Many take the opportunity to raise any concerns they have or let us know we’re doing a good job; or sometimes people will just stop to say hello. They are a thoroughly worthwhile way of engaging with the communities we serve.”
