PCC RESPONDS to the Chancellor's announcement on police budgets

Sir Clive Loader, Leicestershire’s PCC, said: “Clearly I welcome the Chancellor’s announcement that police budgets will not be cut over the course of this Parliament.

“Whilst obviously we need to wait until we receive the details in the provisional police settlement in mid-December to understand the full impact of today’s announcement, it is undoubtedly a huge step in support of policing.

“Before we arrive at any final predictions for future budgets we also need to factor in the public appetite to support local policing through the part of the council tax that is paid for policing and I will be consulting on these options over the next few weeks.

“When we are furnished with the outcome of that consultation and the settlement detail the Chief Constable and I will discuss the implications, armed with fact rather than speculation, on service delivery.”
