RUPERT MATTHEWS ELECTED AS LEICESTERSHIRE’S NEXT POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER

Rupert Matthews has been elected as Leicestershire’s new Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).

Speaking after the declaration Rupert Matthews said: “I am honoured to have been elected to serve the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland as their Police and Crime Commissioner. I look forward to implementing my manifesto to improve policing, crime prevention and related services over the years to come.”

The new Commissioner will take up the role officially on 13 May 2021 and will serve a three-year term until 2024 due to the year-long postponement of the 2020 election as a result of Covid-19.
