Safer Streets
The Home Office’s Safer Streets Fund launched in January 2020 to help police and community partners across England and Wales prevent acquisitive and neighbourhood crimes including burglary, robbery and vehicle crime.
Acquisitive crimes make up over 60% of all crimes (excluding fraud and computer misuse) swallowing vast sums of police time and resources and leaving a deep impact on people’s lives, especially those who fall victim.
Leicestershire has successfully secured grants in the first three rounds of funding. These have been invested in simple yet effective changes to prevent street crime and burglary and protect people and property.
Interventions have included additional CCTV cameras, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology and free security upgrades on people’s homes.
You're Right, That's Wrong Campaign
A campaign targeted at men aged 18-30, the wide-ranging campaign is being promoted in and outside of bars, pubs and clubs across Leicester City Centre and Loughborough as well as Leicester train station and parks across the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area. It will also run across social media platforms including Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube.
