PCC opens annual Christmas card design competition

Youngsters are being urged to get creative with the return of an annual Christmas card design competition.

Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Police and Crime Commissioner Rupert Matthews is inviting children under 12 to try their hand at designing his official Christmas greetings card.

The winning entry will not only win a £20 gift voucher but will also see their handiwork printed into full colour Christmas cards to be sent by the Commissioner to dignitaries and stakeholders across the force area.

Mr Matthews said: “It’s always really rewarding for me to involve local children in the design of my annual Christmas card. What better way to wish our communities a happy and healthy festive season than with a design that has been created from those very communities. I believe in encouraging young talent so that our artistic children have the opportunity to grow and develop their talents to become the artists of the future.

“The winning entry will be proudly shared throughout the county with the many individuals, charities and organisations I work with. I’m really looking forward to seeing the imaginative designs this year brings.”

The design must:

• Feature a festive theme
• Be drawn or painted on a full size of A4       
• Use as much colour as possible (no glitter as this cannot be printed)

The closing date for the competition is November 20th. The winning design will scoop a £20 gift voucher while runners up will receive a £10 gift voucher.
