Welcome to the third round of
People Zone grant funding for 2023-2024
utilising the results from the community consultations
from each People Zone area.
Round 3 funding for all three People Zones is now open:
- Opens Monday 6th November 2023 at 9am and will be open for four weeks, closing at 5pm on Monday 4th December 2023.
- Grants of up to £10,000 can be applied for
- Projects must be able to demonstrate how their project will be sustainable in the long term.

Round 1: Bell Foundry
The Police and Crime Commissioner approved to fund three bids in this round. This equates to a funding commitment of £21,037.67

Stories of Kindness |
The project will begin with a call out to our local community for anecdotes of stories involving an experience of receiving simple acts of kindness from someone in their neighbourhood. These stories will be collated together and through collaboration between arts coordinator Jacqui Gallon and two poets/story tellers/musicians, the anecdotes will be transformed into a performative piece. |

Back to the Fuchsia Gardening Project |
A group of residents that attend the local community centre have identified that the green areas within the estate have become uninviting spaces that are primarily used as a cut through to tracel quickly across the estate, as opposed to green spaces that are utilised by the community. The group intends to rejuvinate these green spaces and support those who live adjacent to them to manage and maintain them. The aim is to instil pride of place, reduce the liklihood of crime and give people a purpose by providing them with activity, that will both help with their health and wellbeing as well as upskill the residents in the area. |

This project will look to raise awareness of Crimestoppers' anonymous reporting service and the signs of certain crime types, whilst making areas of each People Zone a Crimestoppers Zone. |

The Marios Tinenti Centre |
Leisure Pass Group |
Teh aim of this project is to encourage those who do not feel confident to use teh facilities at the gym or swimming pool to access these provisions with support form leisure centre staff and volunteers. We will provide each individual applicant with an electronic card supplied by the Leisure Centre that will prove acccess to ten sessions of either swimming or gym sessions or a mixture of both for a contribution of 50 pence per session from the individual. |

De-Stress Club |
The De-Stress Club, directly addresses a pressing need within the Bell Foundry community: the mental health of young people between the ages of 11-14. Sessions will be conducted to promote mental health and emotional wellbeing, aiming to provide them with a safe and nurturing envioronment where they can engage in activities aimed at reducing stress and providing positive coping strategies to enhance mental wellbeing. |

This project will develop and deliver a supportive mentoring project. Working with some of the hardest to reach young people in the area. This Half Term Sports Camp aims to provide children from low-income families with a structured and engaging programme for four days throughout the February Half Term. The programme will include a variety of sports and recreational activities. These acrtivities will be designed to promote physical activity, teamwork, creativity and personal development among the participants. |

New Parks 'We Can Help' Information Booklet |
This project will provde a 'We Can Help' booklet for all the 400 flats on Aikman Avenue and a booklet in all key community venues and community groups. Within the booklet it will contain key venues, key people, contact details and a summary of the services they provide. Additional posters will also be provided, containing days and times of key activities taking place in the community. |

Community Sewing Group |
The project offers a safe space twice a week fro adults suffering from mental health and isolation to attend a small friendship group sharing their sewing skills and building friendships. These groups will be run by residents and volunteers, which supports the research report in getting local people to set up their own groups using their own skills, making them more sustainable. |

This project aims to provide free transport in a community where access to services is a barrier due to poor public transport. This project will allow residents to access key services such as the Medical Centre and Social Supermarket. The proposal is to run a mini bus on the Wednesdays, stopping at the Thringstone Members Club, Charles Booth Centre, the White Horse Pub in Whitwick and then Coalville Town Centre. |

This project aims to install two lifesaving defibrillators at key points within the village, as well as training equipment for use by public groups. Community Sports Leader Award |
A Community Sports Leader Award Level 2 (CSLA) course will be provided for people that reside, volunteer or work within the People Zone boundary and priority will be given to young residents/volunteers. This will be 1x course which will run for three days including an assessment day. The course is for 12 participants. A learner from the cohort will be invited to be part of the steering group so they can feedback regarding activitires, engagement and participation. |
