We are excited to announce the launch of the Road Safety Funding Round as part of the Community Action Fund (CAF). This round will open on Monday 17th November 2025 and will remain open until 16:59 on Monday 12th January 2026.
This funding opportunity is aimed at local community groups, parish councils, charities and voluntary organisations who are passionate about making their roads safer and reducing road-related harm in their communities.
Leicestershire Police is committed to making our roads safer for everyone. As a part of this commitment, we have a dedicated Road Safety Team working tirelessly to reduce road-related harm through enforcement, education, and community engagement. The Community Action Fund aims to support the Road Safety Team by empowering local communities to take action.
Road Safety is a shared responsibility that affect us all. Whether we’re behind the wheel, on a bike, walking or riding as passengers. Every life matters and safer roads mean stronger and safer communities. In 2023 the main contributing factors to road traffic accidents involving car users were:
We believe the local communities are in the best position to lead the change. The Community Action Fund is designed to support grassroot, community-led initiatives that aim to reduce these risks and create safer environments and roads for everyone.
We’re inviting applications for projects that focus on prevention and education, and that align with our wider goal of reducing harm and improving safety. This could include:
We encourage both new and experienced applicants to apply, whether you’re a small community group with a big idea or a parish council with a plan to improve local safety, this fund is hereto help make a difference.
Eligible groups can apply for grants of up to £10,000 to support their road safety initiatives. The Road Safety Community Action Fund will open on Monday 17th November and will stay open until 16:59 on Monday 12th January 2026* we will not accept any applications after this date.
*Please note: While we aim to keep the round open for the full duration, we reserve the right to close the round earlier than the published end date if necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: We will not accept any applications that include structural or physical changes unless relevant approvals from Highways are clearly evidenced within the application. Applications without this evidence will not be considered.
