We are pleased to introduce the Community Action Fund (CAF), an exciting new chapter in community funding! This new fund will replace the Commissioner’s Safety Fund (CSF), bringing a more streamlined process.

Building safer, stronger communities starts with prevention, not just response. The Community Action Fund empowers local people to lead the way, putting resources directly into the hands of those who know their neighbourhoods best. By supporting innovative grassroots projects, we tackle the root causes of crime and vulnerability head-on.

Empowered communities create lasting change. Whether it’s youth groups offering safe space, neighbourhood watch schemes reducing crime, or local businesses tackling anti-social behaviour, grassroots efforts make a real difference.

This fund focuses on prevention: stopping problems before they start. By supporting local ideals, we can reduce crime, ease pressure on emergency services, and build safer, more connected communities.

The best solutions come from those who live and work in these areas every day. With the right tools and support, communities can truly thrive.

Whether you’ve applied for funding before or this is your first time, the Community Action Fund offers a clearer, more targeted approach to making a real difference where it matters most.

The Community Action Fund is designed to provide targeted support to community and constituted groups through a series of themed grant rounds running throughout the year. Each round focuses exclusively on prevention initiatives that address one of our six prevention delivery strategies and will support community-led projects that aim to reduce harm and improve safety. Eligible groups can apply for grants up to £10,000 to support their initiatives.
