Round 5 - Neighbourhood Crime
To help reduce crime and improve community safety, we are launching the Neighbourhood Crime round of The Community Action Fund.
This funding round is designed to support local communities in tackling neighbourhood crime, reducing anti-social behaviour and helping residents feel safer in the places where they live, work and visit. This funding opportunity is open to a wide range of applicants, including:
- Registered charities
- Constituted groups
- Parish councils
- Voluntary organisations
- Schools
- Other formally constituted organisations, including youth groups such as Scouts and Guides
We recognise the vital role that local communities play in identifying local issues and delivering practical solutions to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour. Whether it's engaging young people in positive activities, improving security at vulnerable locations, protecting local heritage assets, increasing community awareness or supporting initiatives that bring communities together, this fund aims to empower local organisations to take action.
Applicants can apply for funding of up to £10,000 to support projects that reduce neighbourhood crime, prevent anti-social behaviour, protect heritage sites and help create safer, stronger communities. Funding can be used for a variety of initiatives, including (but not limited to):
- Crime Prevention Workshops – Sessions for residents, schools or community groups on personal safety, home security, fraud awareness and crime prevention.
- Youth Diversion Activities – Programmes that provide positive activities, mentoring and skills development opportunities for young people who may be at risk of involvement in anti-social behaviour or crime.
- Community Safety Events – Local events that raise awareness of crime prevention, encourage community engagement and build stronger neighbourhood networks.
- Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Campaigns – Projects that educate communities about the impact of anti-social behaviour and promote positive community values.
- Environmental Improvements – Community-led initiatives that improve public spaces, reduce opportunities for crime, and increase feelings of safety, such as signage, community clean-ups, or planting projects.
- Community Cohesion Projects – Activities that bring people together, reduce isolation, and help foster a stronger sense of belonging and shared responsibility for community safety.
- Heritage Crime Prevention Projects – Initiatives that help safeguard local heritage assets from criminal damage, theft, vandalism, anti-social behaviour and arson. Funding could support security improvements such as CCTV, lighting, alarms, locks and other protective measures at locations including churches, historic buildings, war memorials, heritage railways and community heritage sites. - Applicants must provide evidence of any relevant permissions, approvals or licences needed for the proposed works as part of their application.
Through this fund, we want to support projects that address local concerns, build community resilience, and help make neighbourhoods safer for everyone.
The Neighbourhood Crime grant round will open on Monday 28th September 2026 and close on Sunday 8th November 2026 at 16:59*. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.

*Please note: While we aim to keep the round open for the full duration, we reserve the right to close the round earlier than the published end date if necessary.
Who Can Apply:
We want to hear from people who understand their communities and have great ideas for making a positive impact. Charities, schools, community groups, parish councils, constituted groups and voluntary organisations can apply, please see below our eligibility criteria:
- Multiple Applications: You may submit more than one application. Each will be assessed independently, and if more than one meets the quality threshold, we may consider funding multiple proposals. However, funding more than one application is not guaranteed and will depend on the overall strength of submissions and available resources.
- Organisation Size: Your organisation must have fewer than 30 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff. Volunteers and schools are not counted in this total.
- Funding Limit: Applications requesting more than £10,000 will not be considered.
- Geographical Eligibility: We can only fund projects that are delivered within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Applications for projects taking place outside of these areas will not be eligible.
- Project Relevance: Your project must clearly support at least one of the Police and Crime Plan priorities. Applications that do not align with these priorities will not be eligible.
- Current Funding: If your project is already receiving funding, you cannot apply for additional funding if the new funding period overlaps with your current one.
