Neighbourhood Watch is a community-run surveillance and communication network that strengthens collective guardianship, facilitates information-sharing with police, and reduces crime opportunity at a very low cost.

Meta analysis of 36 evaluations shows 16-26% crime reduction where Neighbourhood Watch is implemented. Another systematic review found an identical 26% reduction.
A European Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN) review confirms Neighbourhood Watch is consistently effective. It is also shown to improve guardianship, cohesion, and early reporting of suspicious behaviour, with stronger community surveillance increasing perceived risk to offenders.
