Low Cost Intervention
A discreet safety initiative used in venues like bars, clubs, and restaurants. Patrons who feel unsafe can ask for 'Angela', prompting trained staff to offer help - such as escorting them to safety, calling a taxi, or involving security.
This provides immediate support to vulnerable individuals, reduces risk of escalation in unsafe situations, empowers staff to intervene safely and discretely, builds safer nightlife environments, and raises awareness of VAWG with proactive safety cultures.

93% of patrons recognise the Ask for Angela initiative, with 85% believing it makes venues safer, and 73% feeling personally safer when knowing it's available. However, only 7 of 11 surveyed (who used the scheme) reported successful interventions in 2025, with 76% of venue staff untrained, and 50% of venues failing to respond correctly due to this lack of training. Where 53% of women report harassment in nightlife settings, and 93% being aware of the scheme, with simple training exercises, cases of VAWG could be significantly reduced.
