Low Cost Intervention
The SHARA Project (Sexual Harm Awareness and Recognising Abuse) is designed for ages 16-19. It focuses on more complex issues; it takes a broader societal perspective. It delves into the role of gender stereotypes, societal views, and toxic attitudes that contribute to violence against women and girls.
The SHARA Project equips participants with the tools to challenge harmful norms and address sexual violence within a larger context, helping them better understand how societal pressures and discrimination fuel sexual harm and abuse.
The cost of adopting our approach will vary depending on the level of expertise within your organisation. SHUSH has been developed by the OPCC Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) lead. Because the model was created independently, there are no external development fees attached to it.
If your organisation already has the appropriate skills and knowledge, you may be able to implement the materials with minimal additional cost.
For organisations without in‑house expertise, you may need to bring in external support to ensure safe, informed, and effective delivery.

A highly effective multi-agency approach to sexual violence prevention, aligned with the 'It's Not Ok' campaign. The programme has led to increased disclosures and improved safeguarding outcomes particularly among groups less likely to report abuse (e.g boys, faith communities, LGBTQ youth).
SHARA compliments national research showing primary prevention is the most effective strategy for reducing sexual violence. The Violence Reduction Network (VRN) annual report highlights SHARA's contibution to a downward trend in serious violence across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
